UBCD4W – A Must have for all techs/wannabe techs!

by admin on Feb 20th in Hardware Issues, Open Source/Free Software, Software Issues, Virus/Malware Problems

The Ultimate Boot CD for Windows is probably the most useful tool in my cybertoolkit.  It allows you to boot a computer into a ‘pre-execution’ version of Windows, by-passing the problems you may be having with your system.  It is full of utilities that allow you to look for viruses, malware, rootkits, edit the registry, copy files, etc.  A wonderful new feature is that you can actually now install the UBCD4W onto a USB drive!  This is great because you now don’t have to burn a new CD every week or so to get the updated virus defs, etc.   You can just re-create your USB drive to update the defs!

To use this, you must have a full version CD of Windows XP (not a restore CD from a manufacturer!)  I’ve listed both the site for the main software for UBCD4W as well as the youtube video on how to make the USB version.
